Aruba

Aruba - a Caribbean island some twenty miles long is located in the Lesser Antilles of the southern Caribbean Sea approximately 25 miles off the coast of Venezuela. It is a constituent country of the Nederlands.

It is considered a top wreck diving destination by some magazines with at least eleven wrecks on the coastline including one of the largest wrecks in the Caribbean, the German WW2 wreck the MS Antilla which is 400 feet long and lies at a maximum depth of 55 feet making it a very easy wreck to dive.

The south coast has strong currents which makes for some excellent drift dives along the coral reef.

Water temperatures are consistently 24C and visibility generally is a good 10M.  The best time for diving is Spring.

For the non diver there is a cave system in the national park to explore with Arawak Indian drawings on the cave walls.

With around nine dive centres on the Island, there is plenty of choice for the diver.

Five flights a week with the Dutch national airline from Amsterdam fly via major cities in Europe into Aruba.
