Scuba Santas - raising funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in the UK

Over 170 scuba diving Santas are expected to take the plunge at an inland dive site in Somerset on Sunday 19 December.

Lloyd says: "The RNLI volunteers play such a vital role in allowing us to do our sport, as divers we never know when we might need to call upon their help and it is extremely reassuring to know they are there should we need them. However as a charity they need our support in order to provide this service to anyone in trouble at sea and this is our rather unusual and festive way of giving something back"

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates over 230 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and has more than 100 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824 its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 137,000 lives.
